$2 billion Residential Activation Fund

Before a house can go up, the groundwork has to happen first. The Residential Activation fund is delivering essential infrastructure like new water and drainage pipes, new roads and transport links, and improved connections to power and telecommunications.
Unlocking homes across Queensland
So far this year, $1 billion has been allocated to projects across Queensland unlocking more than 98,000 new homes for Queenslanders. The remaining fund will be allocated in future rounds.
At least half of the total fund will support essential infrastructure projects in regional, rural and remote Queensland.
More than housing - A future for growing communities
With more people choosing to call Queensland home, we are getting to work right across the state to build more housing and provide better transport, healthcare and education.

How the Residential Activation Fund is delivered

Eligible local governments, developers and landowners are invited to submit applications for funding on shovel-ready projects to build essential infrastructure needed for future housing.
Projects are assessed on a local need for new housing, as well as the scale of delivery. Benefits to the community are also considered – whether those benefits are economic, social or environmental.

Well-planned growth in action

To make the most of the opportunities that growth provides, it’s critical that we plan for it in the right way – to meet the current and future needs of our changing population.
Regional plans are strategic documents that guide land use planning across multiple councils to support economic growth, development and liveable communities while protecting natural resources. They set the direction and long-term vision for how each of Queensland’s regions will grow and respond over time. Each local government must take these regional plans into consideration when preparing their location planning schemes.
The Queensland Government has committed to reviewing all regional plans. The scope of regional plans will be more focussed, addressing only the priorities that matter most to our local communities.
