Releasing land for more housing
More affordable housing starts with more supply. That’s why the new Queensland Government is unlocking vacant government-owned land for housing, and identifying priority growth areas for development. More than 4,100 hectares of land were released in the past year through these programs.
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), the Queensland Government’s land use planning and land activation agency, is tasked with this job.
Who is EDQ?
EDQ works in partnership with industry, government and communities to increase housing supply to create liveable places and employment hubs, delivered at pace and scale.
Unlocking land with the Land Activation Program (LAP)
This is a brand new nation-leading program to identify, unlock and release underutilised Government land for housing to the market.
Priority Development Areas (PDA)
PDAs are parcels of land identified for accelerated development, with a focus on delivering housing and jobs.
We're also delivering essential infrastructure to unlock more development-ready land within these PDAs.
